ARMOUTI SADDLES UP FOR OLYMPIC CHALLENGE
Sep 27, 2018
After becoming the first Jordanian to book her place at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Sara Al Armouti has had plenty of time to prepare for her Argentina adventure.
But with the event just days away, the young horse jumper says she can’t wait to begin her competition in South America.
Al Armouti finished first in the 130cm Challenge League held in Jordan with the second best time scored on Asian level to qualify.
And now with just 10 days to go, she is training hard with her father, Hussein Armouti, who has been nurturing her career since she took up the sport as an infant.
“As soon as she qualified we put a training plan in place which we have stuck to,” said Hussein. “She trains on different horses as jumpers compete on various horses and not their own so she has to be prepared.”
At just 18, Al Armouti represents one of Jordan’s brightest young stars, and is one of 12 Jordanian athletes heading to the Youth Olympics, a record delegation for Jordan.
