Apr 08, 2017
Jordan’s history-making triathlete Lawrence Fanous has won the Arab Triathlon Championship for the third time.
Fanous, who became the first Jordanian triathlete to compete at an Olympic Games last summer in Rio de Janeiro, won the title in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
“It feels great to have the title back!” said Fanous, who finished the race in 1:03.06.
“It wasn't my best race but I got the main job done.”
There was further success for Jordan with Zina Al Attal taking second in the 13-15 age category with Kareem Othman also finishing runner-up in the Juniors.
Anoud Al Awamleh took bronze in the age category for 20-24-years-old. It was also confirmed that Jordan will host the next Arab Championship in October.
