BIG ASIAN WIN FOR SHELBAYEH, FAKHOURI

 JORDAN’S Abdullah Shelbayeh and Omar Fakhouri have won the doubles title at the 2017 Qatar Asian Junior U14 Tennis Tournament held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex.

The pair beat Qatar’s Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and Rashed Nawaf in the final having advanced through earlier matches against Syria’s Majed Jamoul and Yemen’s Ayman Ahmad, Syrian pair Baher Miro and Mohammad Na’na’ and Yemen’s Al Hassan Ishaq and Ammar Sa’eid in the semi-final.

In the singles, Shelbayeh finished third after losing his semi-final match to the eventual winner Qatar’s Rashed Nawaf.

Fakhouri finished tenth among 32 players in the singles.

The tournament attracted over 100 players from across Asia.
