Jordan’s handicapped athletes are performing well at the West Asian Paralympic Games with medals flowing in the UAE on the opening day.
Runner Bilal Saadeh won Jordan’s first gold in the 400m, before Waed al Qaq won silver in the shot put. Ahmed Al Hindi later took bronze in the javelin.
More medals are guaranteed with Faten Olaimat qualifying for the table tennis final, and the Goalball team beating Qatar 7-5 to also reach the final against Iraq.
Jordan has sent 37 athletes to compete in basketball wheelchair, Goalball for the blind, table tennis, weightlifting and athletics.
