MAKE US PROUD: JOC TELLS ASIAN BEACH GAMES TEAM

Just three weeks after Ahmad Abu Ghaush won gold for Jordan at the Olympic Games, Lana Al Jaghbeer, secretary general of the the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has told anothere Team Jordan delegation to “make us proud” at the 5th Asian Beach Games, taking place in Dandong, Vietnam September 24 – October 3.
Al Jaghbeer welcomed members of the delegation to the JOC headquarters to wish them well and to provide some last minute advice.
"By taking part in events like this, Jordan is playing an active role in supporting the Asian sporting community and our athletes are gaining valuable experience that can be used in other event also,” she said.
“We have a strong team travelling to Vietnam, especially in jiu jitsu where we have world champions in the delegation. On behalf of the Jordanian sporting community I wish them well and encourage them to make us proud! "
Dr. Nabeel Shamroukh, Chef de Mission, will lead the delegation which includes 25 athletes competing in beach handball, muay thai, wrestling and jiu jitsu.
Jiu jitsu team includes: World Masters Champion Rana Qubbaj who secured her third consecutive jiu jitsu world title last week in Las Vegas, Her sister and former world champion Lama is also named ,Ruba Al Sayegh, Zaid Sami, Abdel Kareem Al Rasheed, Mohammad Al Belbaisi, Basel Fanous, Haidarah Al Rasheed and Hamzeh Al Rasheed. They will be coached by Zaid Abu Soud.
The handball squad includes Nahed Al Rawashdeh, Roa Naser, Falak Obiadat, Sara Al Halabeyeh, Laila Khader, Hanadi Al Ush, Lima Obaidah, Ayah Obeidat, Lubna Slalameh, Reem Abu Al Nil. Mowafaq Fathallah will coach the side.
In muay thai, Saif Al Din Khaled Al Zaqzouq, Mohammad Salameh and Anas Khalaf will be going for gold under the watchful eye of coach Khaled Al Zaqzouq.
Former national team star Yahia Abu Tabeekh will be coaching the wrestlers with Zakarya Al Sheshani, Ameer Ashkat and Husam Al Dein Abu Syyaf .
Jordan's competitions will start with the muay thai on 21 till 26 September, jiu jitsu and beach handball will start on 25, while wrestling will start on 30 September till 3 October
The muay thai team will leave for Vietnam first on September 18 followed by the rest of the delegation.
The team management includes Dr. Nabil Shamroukh, chef de Mission; Rana Al Saeed, official, Hamzeh AL Dawaimeh, Media officer, Amal Nofal and Rasheed Jaber, physiotherapists.
