Aug 30, 2016
Rana Al Qubbaj has confirmed her status as one of the world’s great female jui jitsu fighters by clinching the World Masters title for the third consecutive time in Las Vegas.
The 2014 Black Iris Best Sportswoman winner took gold in the purple belt for mid heavyweight category by beating home favourite Christina Hanley in the final.
"It was a tough draw in my weight, but I knew that if I could produce my best I could win the title,” she said. “To win the gold again is such a great feeling.".
She will now be one of the medal favourites in the Team Jordan delegation heading to the Asian Beach Games in Vietnam next month.
Meanwhile, at the same Las Vegas tournament, Sami Al Jamal took silver in the black belt featherweight category.
