Al-Jaafari wins silver at Karate Premier League

Jordan’s Mohammad Al-Jaafari secured the silver medal on Sunday at the first round of the 2024 Karate 1-Premier League, held in Paris, France.
Al-Jaafari, the world No. 1 in the -84kg category, fell short in the final against Egypt’s world No. 2, Youssef Badawy, with a score of 2-10.
On Saturday, Al-Jaafari’s remarkable run included winning five consecutive matches to reach the final against Dutchman, Brian Timmermans (3-0), Georgia’s Luka Vasadze (9-0,), Finland’s Bjorn Kulovuori (9-0), Morocco’s Mehdi Seriti (8-0), and then beating Italy’s Matteo Fiore, 3-1, in the semi-final.
The Karate 1-Premier League is one of the most prestigious karate competitions globally, featuring the top 32 ranked athletes in each weight category.
This year’s league consists of four rounds, with the remaining events set to take place in Hangzhou (China), Cairo (Egypt), and Rabat (Morocco).
