Raining Jordan medals at Asian Karate

Jordan have finished with a flourish on the final day of the Asian Karate Championships, picking up a gold, silver and two bronzes in Hangzhou, China.
Olympic medallist Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa secured the gold medal in the -67kg weight, defeating Kazakhstan's Altinbek Ulzhas in the final with a score of 9-5.
He began his journey by beating Hong Kong's Chan Ho Hong, 9-1, in the round of 16, followed by a 9-3 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al-Assiri in the quarter-finals.
Continuing his winning streak, the Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist overcame Kazakhstan's Altinbek Ulzhas, 9-5, in the last four to reach the final.
In the -55kg category, Omar Shaqra won silver after losing his final to Kazakhstan's Bejabel Zholaman.
Eearlier, he defeated India's Ramandeep 2-1 in the quarter-finals and overcame Kuwait’s Salem Al-Ajmi on advantage after a 5-5 draw in the semi-finals.
Mohammed Al-Jaafari claimed a bronze medal in the -84 kg competition with an 8-0 victory over Vietnam's Nguyen Thanh Trung in the play-off.
Meanwhile, Jud Al-Duros won the second bronze in the -68kg category after defeating Japan’s Kama on advantage following a 1-1 draw.
Sadly Abdullah Hamad had to withdraw from his bronze medal match in the -60kg category due to injury.
The men’s team had earlier won a bronze medal in the team competitions yesterday, bringing Jordan’s total medal count at the Asian Championships to five: one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
