Zeyad Ishaish qualifies for Paris Olympics

National boxing team member, Zeyad Ishaish, has qualified for his second consecutive Olympic Games, taking Jordan’s delegation for Paris this summer up to eight.
The talented 71kg fighter picked up his fourth consecutive win today at the qualifying event being held in Bangkok, Thailand.
He beat Ireland’s Aidan Walsh in the quarter-finals to secure his qualification, adding to his Olympic appearance in Tokyo last time around.
Ishaish began his campaign with a win over Albanian boxer Alban Beqiri before beating New Zealand’s Stanley Wendell and Georgia’s Eskerkhan Madiev.
He joins teammate Obada Al-Kasbeh on the plave to France, along with the four Taekwondo fighters Juliana Al-Sadeq, Rama Abu Rab, Saleh Al-Sharabaty, and Zaid Mustafa; Gymnast Ahmad Abu Al-Soud and table tennis star Zaid Abu Yamen.
His older brother, Hussein, is just one step away from booking his spot he comes against Thailand’s Weerapon Jongjoho in the -80kg weight in the quarter-finals.
If he wins, it will be his third consecutive Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, female boxer Hanan Nassar began her participation in the -50kg weight category by defeating Azerbaijan’s Safriva, advancing to the round of 16 where she will face Nigeria’s Zainab Adeshina tomorrow.
Hudayfa Ishaish lost his -51kg bout against American, Roscoe Hill.
