ABU YEMEN MAKES IT AN OLYMPICS MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!

Table tennis star Zaid Abu Yemen has become the seventh Jordanian to book their place at this summer’s 2024 Paris Olympics.
Abu Yemen won the West Asia qualifying tournament held in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, winning six matches in a row with his final victory over Bahrain’s Rashid Sanad clinching the historic spot.
Earlier, the Jordanian advanced to the knock-0out stages by topping is group with 4-0 wins over Syria’s Obaida Zaza and Oman’s Muhannad Al-Balushi.
In the round of 16, Abu Yemen defeated Iraq’s Omar Thaer, 4-1, and in the quarter-finals, he triumphed over Lebanese player, Daoud Shuaib, 4-0.
His outstanding run continued in the last four with a win over Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Bushlibi, 4-1, before his 4-1 victory in the final confirmed his crown, and a ticket on the plane this summer to France.
It is the first time that a Jordanian Table Tennis player has qualified for the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing Games.
His teammates missed out with Teema Abu Yemen losing in the semi-finals of the women’s singles to Syria’s Hend Zaza.
Abu Yemen will join Taekwondo stars Juliana Al-Sadeq, Rama Abu Rab, Zaid Mustafa, and Saleh El-Sharabaty in Paris, along with Boxer, Obada Al-Kasbeh and Gymnast, Ahmad Abu Al-Soud.
