Gold for Qarada at World Champs

Jordan have picked up their first gold medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championship in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, with a silver also won on the same day.
Omar Qarada lifted a mighty 176kg on his way to gold in the 49kg weight category, combining for a total of 348kg.
But Jordan weren’t finished, with Mohamed El-Shennety taking silver in the 54kg weight after lifting 170kg.
Elsewhere, in the 65kg competition, Mohamed Tarboush finished sixth.
The national team will continue its participation on Saturday, when Asmaa Issa will compete in the 79kg weight category, Tharwat Al-Hajjaj will lift in the 86kg weight category, and Moataz Al-Janidi will compete in the 107kg weight.
