Abu al-Saud wins World Cup gold

Ahmed Abu al-Saud has won an historic gold medal in the parallel bars at the first round of the World Cup Gymnastics series held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Abu al-Saud outshone the world’s best in the final eight to clinch top spot with 15.066 points, beating South Korea’s Wong Hor, who came second with 14.933 points. Kazakhstan’s Nariman Korbanov was third.
Abu al-Saud will now head to the next round in the German city of Cottbus from February 22-25, in the box seat for Olympic qualification.
