Jordan’s boxers hoping to qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games will head to Spain this month to continue their preparations for the upcoming global qualifiers.
Under Cuban head coach, Dagoberto Scut, the team is currently undergoing intensive daily sessions at Jordan’s Olympic Preparation Centre ahead of the championship in Pistoia, Italy February 29-March 12.
There are two chances left to book an Olympic spot, with Italy closely followed by a tournament in Bangkok, Thailand in May, with this camp, starting on February 10, enabling the boxers to train and spar with other nations.
“We look forward to benefiting from the Spain camp by making the weights for each player, in addition to implementing the training methods intended for application in the qualifiers,” said the head coach.
“We believe the camp will serve our team well and help us reach the high standards due to the presence of outstanding players from other participating teams.”
The Jordanian national boxing team includes: Hanan Nasar (-50kg), Hazif Ashish (-51kg), Mohammad Abu Jajah (-57kg), Abada Al-Kasbah (-63.5kg), Ziyad Ishaish (-71kg), Hussein Ishaish (-80kg), and Adi Al-Hindawi (-92kg).
The four fighters reaching the semi-finals from each weight category will qualify from the first qualifiers to the Olympics.
