Jordan will bid to reach the semi-final of the AFC Asian Cup tomorrow (Friday) when they face Tajikistan in the quarter-finals at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Head coach urged his teams not to take their opponents for granted after a dramatic 3-2 win over Gulf Cup champions, Iraq, in the last round sealed their last eight spot.
“The match will be tough, and we need to be fully focused,” said Hussein Amotta. “Tajikistan are organised, and its players are known for their great speed and agility.
“We must continue to deliver a high-level performance to reach the semi-finals. I have great confidence in the Jordanian national team, and our ambition is to continue our journey in the tournament.”
The 3-2 win over Iraq was secured with two goals in added time, but Tajikistan, participating for the first time in the tournament, reached the quarter-finals by overcoming the UAE in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
