An International Olympic Committee (IOC)-endorsed programme that makes athletes better equipped to pursue careers away from sport has benefited more than 80 Jordanian sportsmen and women.
Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) Secretary General, Rana Al-Saeed, attended the final session of the Athlete 365 Career+ programme organised by the JOC’s Olympic Academy, the educational arm of the JOC.
The workshop was conducted by Inas Hussein, from Egypt, the Development Manager and Safeguarding Lead at the International Rowing Federation, along with the three-time Jordanian Taekwondo Olympian, Nadin Dawani.
The workshops, designed by the IOC, provide guidance to athletes as they embark on their professional careers beyond sports.
The topics included life skills, education and employment, ranging from self-discovery to creating resumes. Simultaneously, the workshops offer the opportunity to learn from fellow athletes and Olympians.
The ‘Self-Discovery’ workshops assisted athletes in personal growth, increasing self-awareness, and opening up more job opportunities.
Al-Saeed said that these workshops provided excellent support to athletes, providing them with knowledge and insights to pave the way for a successful professional life after concluding their sports careers.
At the conclusion of the final session, Abdulrehman Al-Masatfa, a member of the national karate team and bronze medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, delivered a talk, sharing his experience. He also distributed participation certificates to the attendees.
