Pilot flag football tourney a success

The inaugural flag football championship concluded yesterday evening (Saturday), and has been hailed as a success.
Organised by a Temporary Federation set up for the sport, the championship featured the four teams from Amman, Zarqa, and Mafraq and on both Friday and Saturday in Mafraq and Amman.
Flag football is an emerging sport in Jordan with the federation hoping that the championship would help them to discover new talent, strengthen the national team for the coming year, and expand the game’s player base.
It is a variant of American football where, instead of tackling players to the ground, the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier.
