The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), in partnership with Medlab Laboratories and in collaboration with the Military Consumer Foundation, organised a campaign called ‘Our Sports Our Health’ to mark World Diabetes Day.
Activities were held across seven locations, including Ramtha, Mafraq, Jerash, Zarqa, Salt, Ma’an, and Karak to promote sport and a healthy lifestyle.
Over 1,750 instant diabetes tests were carried out, with 250 at each location, along with a discount voucher for the HbA1c diabetes test at Medlab’s 57 branches distributed in all governorates of the Kingdom.
The campaign included informative brochures aimed at raising awareness about diabetes, its impact on physical activity, and highlighted sport as a tool to combat and reduce the risks of diabetes.
Rana Al-Saeed, JOC Secretary General, emphasized that organising this campaign is part of the committee's responsibility to raise awareness about diabetes, encourage continuous exercise, and maintain a healthy diet.
Al-Saeed stated: “Through its current programmes, the JOC seeks to promote regular exercise as a means of preserving individual health.
“World Diabetes Day enabled us to encourage the community to engage in continuous exercise to ensure a healthy, disease-free life.”
Dr. Hasib Sahyun, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Medlab Laboratories, commented: “Our participation in this campaign comes from our ongoing efforts to spread the culture of preventive medicine and emphasizes our strong commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and caring for sports as important pillars for maintaining human health.
“We are proud of our continuous collaboration with the JOC because they share our goals and responsibilities towards society.
“This campaign is evidence of the importance of the cooperation between the two parties and our keenness to support the sports sector.”
