Khattab adds Asian gold to World win

Just weeks after winning the world title, Abdul Karim Khattab has continued his golden year by winning the 88kg powerlifting gold at the Asian Para Games taking place in the Hangzhou, China.
Khattab, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion and world record holder, lifted a total of 242kg, setting a new Asian Para Games record.
The silver medal went to China’s Wei Jijong, who lifted 225kg, while the bronze was earned by Kazakhstan's Rahmatjan Khamayev, who lifted 203kg.
This was Khattab's second gold medal in the Asian Para Games, having previously won in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
The delegation has now increased its medal tally at the Games to four – three gold and one silver - Jordan's best-ever performance at the event.
