Gold for Jordan at Asian Para Games

Powerlifter Omar Qarada has won gold for Jordan at the 4th Asian Para Games being held in Hangzhou, China.
Qarada beat 11 competitors to lift gold in the 49kg category, raising a combined 182kg, a new record for the Asian Para Games.
Iraq’s Muslim Al-Sudani won silver by lifting 173kg, while Vietnamese lifter Le Van Cong claimed the bronze medal.
It is Qarada’s second gold at the Games, having previously won gold in the first edition held in Guangzhou, China in 2010.
In the 54kg category, the young Jordanian lifter, Mohammed Al-Shaniti, finished in fourth, lifting 170kg on his tournament debut.
Jordan's powerlifting participation continues with Abdullah Khatib (88kg), Asmaa Issa (79kg), Tharwat Al-Hajaj (86kg) and Jameel Al-Shibli (+107kg) all scheduled to compete over the coming days.
