Not only has Zaid Al-Halawani won Jordan’s first medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, the taekwondo ace was presented with his bronze medal by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al-Hussein.
Al-Halawani finished on the podium in the Taekwondo -63kg competition and was deighted to find out that the official presenting the medals was HRH Prince Feisal, President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee and a member of the Executive Office of the International Olympic Committee.
Al-Halawani’s journey ended in the semi-finals with defeat to Iran’s Ali Reza, who won 2-0.
Earlier though, he was impressive as he beat Japan’s Sergio Suzuki and then Lebanon’s Ralph Hanina in the quarter-final.
The Taekwondo team continue their participation on Wednesday, with Saleh Al-Sharabati, Juliana Al-Sadeq, and Zaid Mustafa competing in their respective weight categories.
