SECOND WIN FOR U23 FOOTBALLERS
Sep 10, 2023
Jordan have picked up their second win of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup.
They followed up their 9-0 win over Brunei with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Oman at the Prince Mohammed Stadium, Zarqa, to top the group with six points, with one match remaining against Syria.
Waseem Al-Riyalat scored the winning goal, his second of the tournament to virtually secure Jordan’s place in the next round of qualifiers, despite one more game to go.
The 43 Asian nations are divided into 11 groups, with the winner of each group, along with the best four second-placed teams, qualifying for the Asian finals which take place in Qatar from April 15 to May 3, 2024.
Three teams from this tournament will qualify for next summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.
