JORDAN TAKING SIX FENCERS TO ASIAN GAMES

Jordan have named six fencers who will compete at the Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
Abdullah Al-Tahla (Sabre), Osama Al-Masri (Sabre), Eyad Ouda (Épée), Deena Al-Mansi (Épée), Shahd Al-Kloub (Épée), and Rawan Al-Majali (Foil) have all made the squad, with the coaching made up of Dr. Ali Abu Zam'a and Sabiror Abror.
The competition is expected to be world-class, so will be an excellent test for the Jordanian fencers who are building a strong reputation amongst the Arab nations, so will be keen to make a mark on the continental scene.
Dr Abu Zam'a said: “Our preparations are going well. We look forward to making a notable presence at the Asian Games.
“The goal of this participation is to gain experience, especially as we are fielding relatively young players compared to the other nations competing.
“Our national team won 10 medals in the last Arab Games, including two gold, three silver, and five bronze so it shows that we are developing as a fencing nation. We have a promising young generation capable of achieving international recognition.”
The fencing competitions will be held from September 24-29 at the Hangzhou Dianzi University Sports Arena.
