Zaid Al-Halawani has won a brilliant bronze medal in the -68kg weight at the second round of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix held in Paris.
The event featured the top 32 ranked fighters in each weight, and Al-Halawani ran through to the medal places with wins over American, Harris Khalfani; South Korean, Ho Jun-jin, and fellow Jordanian, Zaid Mustafa, who had previously beaten fighters from Senegal and Iran.
But for Al-Halawani, Brazilian Edival Pontes proved too much in the semi-final, losing 2-0 to settle for the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Saleh Al-Sharabati was uanble to continue past the last 16 after suffering an injury in the -80kg weight.
Juliana Al-Sadiq lost to Brazilian, Sandi Masedo, in the women’s -67kg weight category.
The national team will conclude its participation in the championship tomorrow, when Anas Al-Sadek and Fahd Ammar compete in the +80kg competition, while Rama Abu Al-Rab will participate in the +67kg weight.
