USA SHINE AT WORLD U20 WRESTING CHAMPS IN AMMAN

The USA is the first nation to shine at the World U20 Wrestling Championships being hosted by the Jordan Wrestling Federation at the Princess Sumaya Hall in the Hussein Youth City.
Four gold medals were handed out on Tuesday, with Yuto Nisiyuti from Japan taking gold in the 57kg weight, beating Luke Joseph from the USA. The bronze medals went to Edik Harutyunian from Armenia and Nodirbek Gomanazarov from Uzbekistan.
In the 65kg category, Mohammad Reza from Iran beat the USA’s Jesse Wayne Mendez for gold, with Dalghat Abdulqadir from the Neutral Athlete Team (AIN) and Abdullah Toprak from Turkey taking the bronze medals.
Myir Shabirov, from the USA won gold in the 70kg, beating Ali Abbas, from Iran, in the final while Ibrahim Methan Yıldırım, from Turkey, and Magomed Beytukayev, from the Neutral Athlete Team (AIN) took the bronze medals.
Ibrahim Gadzhiev, from the Neutral Athlete Team (AIN), won gold in the 79kg competition, with silver going to India’s Sagar Jaglan. The bronze went to the USA’s Matthew Arthur Singleton and Azerbaijan’s Ali Tokayev.
USA top the medals table with 95 points, followed by Iran with 80 points, and India on 45 points.
Tuesday also saw the preliminary rounds for the youth freestyle wrestling categories in weights under 61kg, 74kg, 86kg, 92kg, and 125kg.
