The journey will start on November 16, will run through to June 11 in 2024 with a total of eight teams from the Asian continent going through to the 2026 World Cup in the USA. One further team could go through via the intercontinental play-offs.

Second Stage: The teams ranked from 1-26 in Asia, along with the 10 teams that qualified from the first stage, making a total of 36 teams, will be divided into nine groups of four.
The group winners and runners-up will qualify for the third stage and directly qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, totalling 18 teams.
Third Stage: The 18 teams qualified for this stage will be divided into three groups of six. The teams will play each other in a home-and-away format. The group winners and runners-up from each group will directly qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026, totalling six teams.
