AL-MASATFA BECOMES WORLD NUMBER ONE

Jordan’s Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa has been unveiled as the new World No. 1 for his weight in the latest International Karate Federation rankings.
Al-Masatfa, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist, topped the rankings in the -67 kg weight category, while teammate Mohammed Al-Jaafari comes in second for the -84kg weight.
There are more Jordanians in the top 10s too, with Abdullah Hamad fifth in the -60kg weight, and Hassan Masarwah is eighth in the -75 kg class.
Jordan Karate is very much on the up, proved at the recent Asian Championships where Jordan won six medals – two gold, one silver, and three bronze.
