BOXING SET FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Jordan will launch their campaign at the IBA World Boxing Championships today (Monday) in the Uzbekistan capital, Tashkent.
More than 800 fighters from 121 countries are taking part, with Jordan represented by an impressive 11 boxers: Hudhaifa Ishaish (-51kg), Zaid Al Bitar (-54kg), Yousef Ishaish (-57kg), Mohammad Abu Jajah (-60kg), Obada Al Kesbeh (-63.5kg), Abdullah Al-Araj (-67kg), Ziad Ishaish (-71kg), Mohammad Muhairat (-75kg), Hussein Ishaish (-80kg), Uday Al Hindawi (-87kg) and Ahmed Al Taimat (-92kg).
The opening ceremony took place on Sunday, and was preceded by the draw ceremony for each of the 13 weights included in the championship.
Youssef Ishaish gets Jordan’s campaign underway today in the round of 64 against fellow -57kg fighter Harada, of Japan.
Ahmed Al-Taimat will also open his campaign in the -92kg division against Azerbaijan’s Eldar Guliyev.
The national team held a training camp in Bulgaria in preparation for the World Championships, which Jordan enter in good spirits with a squad comprising of quality fighters with Olympic and World experience.
