JORDAN HOSTS ANOC TECHNICAL DIRECTORS SEMINAR
Mar 19, 2023
Sports leaders from across the world are in Jordan this week for the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) seminar for technical delegates being held at the Dead Sea.
Starting on Monday, 37 National Olympic Committees are participating in what is considered one of the most important meetings on the sporting calendar.
Jordan was chosen after demonstrating a fine record of hosting major international sporting events and conferences, with the delegates welcomed by Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) Secretary General, Nasser Majali, who urged delegates to seize the opportunity to work together.
The opening workshop was a broad discussion on the lessons learned from the recent Olympic Games, which were held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, and the Winter Olympics, which were held in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
The workshop also explained the Olympic qualification system for the 2024 edition in Paris, the new sports included on the Olympic programme, and the issues and challenges facing coaches and athletes for the qualification period through to the Games itself.
The ANOC Secretary General, Gunilla Lindberg, expressed her delight with the quality of organisation for the seminar, which is managed by the JOC, praising Jordan for continually endeavouring to improve its relationship with the wider sporting world through hosting major events and conferences.
Headquartered in Lausanne, ANOC was established in 1979 and includes all of the 206 countries recognised by the International Olympic Committee, providing support, advice and recommendations related to develop work.
