BOXERS INTO GOLDEN BELT SEMI-FINALS

Mohamed Abu Jaja and Olympian, Ziad Ishaiash, are through to the semi-finals of the Golden Belt Boxing Championship being hosted in Marrakech, Morocco.
Abu Jaja beat Bolivia’s Adrian Robert with a unanimous decision from the five judges in the -60kg division, and will now beat the host nation’s Mohamed Hamout for a place in the final.
Tokyo 2020 Olympian Ishaish, who is competing in the -71kg weight, beat Marcel Piggott, of Haiti, with another unanimous judges’ decision and will now meet Russia’s Igor Sveridchenkov in the last four.
Meanwhile, Rio 2016 Olympian Obada Al-Kasba is through to the quarter-finals of the -64kg category after beating Indonesia’s Farand Babendang.
Odai Al-Hindawi lost his -86kg quarter-final bout to Russia’s Ataev Sharapoutdin and Anas Al-Saadi also missed out at the -75kg quarter-final stage after losing to Comoros fighter Mohamed Madaoumou.
Earlier, Hussein Ishaiash lost to Italy’s Alfred Cromwell in the round of 16 and Selina Al-Hassanat missed out in her -50kg fight to the Kazakh boxer, Kizibay in the quarter-finals. The championship has welcomed 446 boxers representing 45 countries.
