Eyad Odeh has won a bronze medal at the Junior (U20) Individual and Team Fencing World Cup being held at Khalifa Sports City in Bahrain.
Odeh, a student at Princess Sumaya University for Technology's King Abdullah II School of Engineering, reached the Epee semi-finals, one of the finest achievements ever recorded on the world stage by a Jordanian fencer.
His pathway to the last four included four group stage victories over fencers from Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Australia, and a single defeat against a South Korean.
In the knock-out stages, he defeated an Australian (15-12), an Uzbek (15-7), the world No 1, Mohamed Yassin of Egypt (15-13) and then an American in the quarter-finals, 15-11.
But his run ended with the semi-final defeat to the fourth-ranked Egyptian (9-15).
