Hussein Ishaish breezed into the -80kg semi-finals with a win over Iran’s Maysam Gishlaghi, and he will meet Norbek Uralpay from Kazakhstan next.
Younger brother Ziad advanced in the -71kg competition, beating Nur Mammadov from Turkmenistan to set up a semi-final bout with Kyrgyzstan’s Rustambek Nouradin.
Udai Al-Hendawi, another Olympian, stunned Uzbekistan’s No. 2 seed Abdullayev, in the -86kg weight to set up a last four contest with Sagendik from Kazakhstan.
Ahmed Al-Taimat (-92kg) continued the national team’s series of victories by defeating Davlan Poltev from Tajikistan, and will next fight Madiyar Sedrakhimov from Uzbekistan.
