SHELBAYH’S SPANISH RUN ENDS IN SEMI-FINAL

Abdullah Shelbayh’s run at the Rafa Nadal Open by Sotheby’s tournament has ended with a semi-final defeat in Mallorca, Spain.
The 18-year-old lost in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, against Belgian Zizou Berggs, the tournament fourth seed and at 154, a player ranked 500 places above him in the world standings.
Despite the defeat, Shelbayh can expect a rise in the ATP rankings from his current perch of 654, following three victories over higher ranked players this week.
