SHELBAYH INTO RAFAEL NADAL OPEN SEMI-FINAL

Abdullah Shelbayeh’s brilliant run at the Rafa Nadal Open by Sotheby’s tournament has continued with a quarter-final victory in Mallorca, Spain.
The 18-year-old fought back from a set down to beat Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Bubko 2-1 (5-7, 6-3, 6-1) to claim his third seeded scalp of the event after previously beating the tournament’s top seed.
Next up in the final four for the Jordanian, who is ranked 654 in the world, is the winner of the match between Belgium’s Zizou Berggs (154th in the world) and Britain’s Guy Clark (207th).
The tournament is an ATP Challenger Tour event and Shelbayeh will already see his world ranking receive a boost as a result of his victories in Spain to date.
