KARATE HEAD TO FINAL ROUND OF PREMIER LEAGUE

Jordan has sent a strong team to compete for medals at the fourth and final round of the World Karate Premier League in Baku, Azerbaijan, from September 2-4.
The delegation is headed by Mr. Ismail Al-Batush, a member of the Federation’s board, and includes Coach, Muhammad Fityan; Physio, Muath Al Madani, and Referee, Ibrahim Al Deqes.
Fighting in Baku will be Abdullah Hammad, Omar Shaqra, Afif Ghaith (-60kg), Abdul Rahman Al-Masatafa (-67kg), Hassan Maasarwe (-75kg) and Muhammad Al-Jaafari (-84kg). Jordan have won four medals to date at the three previous rounds, with Hammad taking gold and Maasarwe a bronze at the opening round in the UAE.
In the second round, hosted by the Portuguese city of Matosinhos, Olympic medallist, Al Masatfa won silver, and Al-Jaafari won another silver at the third round, in Rabat, Morocco.
The fighters travel in good form with three medals won at the recent 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, hosted by the Turkish city of Konya.
