HRH PRINCE FEISAL HONOURS ISLAMIC GAMES DELEGATION

HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has honoured the successful Jordanian delegation that participated at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, which was held in Konya, Turkey.
The ceremony was held at the St. Regis Hotel, in the presence of HRH Princess Alia Bint Al Hussein; HRH Princess Aya Bint Faisal; HE ‘Mohammed Salameh’ Faris Al Nabulsi, Minister of Youth; HE Ahmed Al Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; and JOC’s Vice-Presidents Dr. Sari Hamdan and Dr. Khaled Attiyat.
They were joined by the JOC Board of Directors; Secretary General, Nasser Majali, and members of the delegation including players, coaches, and administrators.
HRH Prince Feisal praised the delegation’s achievements, which consisted of 12 medals including two gold, four silver, and six bronze.
Majali, who was also the chef de mission, praised the manner in which the delegation represented the Kingdom at the event which welcomed 54 countries.
“We are proud of what was achieved in Konya and the efforts of the national teams, including both players and coaches,” said Majali in his welcoming speech.
“Participation in the Konya tournament was divided into two objectives: the first to achieve the largest number of medals possible, and the second to give the opportunity for youngsters to experience competition on the international stage and assist in their development as athletes.”
Jordan participated in 11 sports including Gymnastics, Karate, Kickboxing, Taekwondo, 3x3 Basketball, Wrestling, Shooting, Athletics, Fencing, Weightlifting, and Swimming.
Gymnast Ahmed Abu Al-Saud and Karate’s Muhammad Al-Jaafari won Jordan’s golds, while Ali Khalaf, Osaid Al-Jaafra and Mohi El-Din Osama (all Kickboxing) and Fahd Ammar (Taekwondo) won the Kingdom’s silvers, while the six bronze medals were won by Uday Abu Haswa, Ibrahim Jumaa, Muhannad Al-Silawi (all Kickboxing), Abdul Rahman Al-Masatafa, Hassan Maasarwe (Karate) and Rama Abu Al-Rub (Taekwondo).
