CAN TAEKWONDO WIN MEDALS AT ISLAMIC GAMES?

Jordan have named a strong squad that will be hunting for medals at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, which will take place in Konya, Turkey, from August 9-18.
Coaches Muhammad Al-Bakhit, Ayman Al-Husami and Uday Obeidat will oversee a group of fighters that consists of Louay Humaidan (-54kg), Mahmoud Al-Tarareh (-58kg), Ward Abu Shakra (-63kg), Abdullah Ayyad (-68kg), Omar Al-Helou (-74kg), Zaid Yassin (-80kg), Fahd Ammar (-87kg) and Anas Darwish (+87kg) for the men. The women’s competition will involve Bisan Abed Rabbo (-46kg), Jana Abdel Rahim (-49kg), Bana Daraghmeh (-53kg), Yara Yassin (-57kg), Lyn Al Rawashdeh (-62kg), Joanna Al Sadiq (-67kg), Rama Abu Al-Rub (-73kg) and Sarah Abu Al-Haj (+73kg).
The team has gone through rigorous preparations at Prince Rashid Hall in Al Hussein Youth City with Al-Bakhit indicating his athletes are all confident of making an impression.
The squad has a mix of experienced and fresh talent as the Taekwondo team vie to add to their previous Islamic Games haul of 13 medals, including three gold, one silver, and nine bronze.
