JORDAN TO COMPETE IN 11 SPORTS AT ISLAMIC GAMES

The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has confirmed that athletes will represent the Kingdom in 11 sports at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be hosted in Konya, Turkey, from August 9-18.
The Jordanian delegation will compete in Shooting, Swimming, Gymnastics, Karate, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Fencing, Taekwondo, 3x3 Basketball and Athletics.
JOC Secretary General, Nasser Al-Majali, said that preparations were in full swing with the delegations all stepping up their prepartions to be ready.
“We are really looking forward to participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya,” he said.
“Our teams have started preparing, and we are very confident in our athletes and technical officials who are working hard to be ready to represent Jordan at this prestigious event.”
Jordan has participated at every Islamic Solidarity Games since its inception in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 2005.
The Kingdom has won a total of 24 medals, including six gold, two silver and 16 bronze. At the last edition held in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, Jordan won 15 medals, including three gold, one silver and 11 bronze, their most successful participation in the Games yet.
