SHAQRA REACHES WK SERIES FINAL

Omar Shaqra has reached the final of the World Karate Series in Cairo, Egypt.
Shaqra won five consecutive fights to book his place for Sunday’s gold medal showdown with Kuwait’s Mohammed Al-Otaibi.
He began with victory over the Belgian, Zinelaj, 5-0, and then beat Egypt’s Baraa Abdel-Moaty, 4-2, in the round of 32.
Shaqra continued his brilliance and beat another Egyptian, Omar Owais, 3-2 to reach the quarter-finals where he overcame a third Egyptian fighter, Abdel Rahman Abdel Aal, 11-4.
In the semi-final, he beat Frenchman, Jean Loops, 3-1 to qualify to the final.
His teammate, Ahmed Shedeed, has qualified to the bronze medal fight in the -75kg competition with two victories before losing to Saudi Arabia’s Sultan Al-Zahrani. He will also fight on Sunday.
