ASIAN GOLD AND SILVER FOR JORDAN JU-JITSU

Jordan have launched their campaign at the 6th Asian Ju-Jitsu Championships with a gold and a silver medal in Manama, Bahrain.
Yara Qaqish got Jordan off to the perfect start by winning the -70kg event, while Yasmine Al-Alami won silver in the -57kg.
Qaqish opened with victory over Emirati Marah Mahfouz in the quarter-finals, and then defeated Thailand’s Sangsirichuk Onanong in the semi-finals. Her gold was secured with a final win over Mongolia’s Golan.
It was particularly sweet victory for Qaqish who has previously won two Asian silvers in 2019 and 2021.
Al-Alami opened op with a win over India’s Gupta Shivani in the quarter-finals, and then overcame Emirati Maha Al-Hinai in the semi-finals before losing in the final to Thailand’s Singhalad Nochanat.
Elsewhere, Zaid Al-Qawasmi (-69kg) lost his first round match against the Kazakh player Yusutov, and in the repechage, he lost to Mongolia's Davadurg.
Meanwhile, Bader Al-Khuzai (-85kg) started his participation well by defeating Thai player Unjay Chanuit, before losing in the next round to Bahrain’s Jetinov Ramazan.
