RECORDS TUMBLE AT SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Swimming star Karina Othman set a new Jordanian record for the 100m breast stroke at the Open Hashemite Kingdom Championships held at Al Jubilee School.
Othman swam the distance in 1min19:34sec, beating the 1.19:47 time of former Olympian Samar Nassar.
Basim Al Tawalbeh also set a new Jordan record in the 50m butterfly. His 41.1seconds was more than half a second better than Haya Firas’s former record of 41.74.
Records continued to tumble with Marya Abu Shamaleh setting a new mark in the 100m freestyle of 1min44.72secs, beating the previous record set by Lydia Al Safadi of 1.47.73.
