FOUR ASIAN MEDALS FOR KARATE JUNIORS

Jordan’s Junior Karate team have won four medals on the opening day of the Asian Senior & Cadet, Junior and U21 Karate Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which runs until December 22.
Yara Bashar won gold in the 54kg weight, while Siren Al-Najjar (-54kg) and Wassim Salama (-63kg) won two silver medals, and Lyn Hagros won a bronze.
Bashar launched her golden campaign with a win over Kazakh, Laura Saginbek and then she beat Iranian, Maidah.
In the final, she beat Indonesia's Tiara Sandi Al Muhaira 7-2 to clinch gold for Jordan.
Al-Najjar’s silver came after defeat in the final to Iran’s Abbadi. Earlier she beat fighters from Indonesia and Kazakhstan.
Salama added a second silver after losing her final to Kuwait’s Abdul Hadi Al-Duwailah, while Lynn Hagros won the bronze medal after losing in the semi-finals to Kyrgyzstan’s Tursunbayeva Kanishai.
On Sunday, Jordan’s youth and women’s teams are in action with Ahmed Abu Hazeem (-61kg), Bisher Al Faouri (-68kg), Muhammad Al Jaafari (-76 kg), Lynn Mansour (- 53 kg), Nour Mansour (+59 kg), and Youssef Nofal (-76kg) all scheduled to fight.
