OLYMPIC HERO LEADS JORDAN BID FOR TAEKWONDO GLORY

Olympic silver medallist Saleh Al-Sharabati will lead Jordan’s bid for medals at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Taekwondo Open, classified as a one-star event.
Joining the Tokyo 2020 80kg hero will Mahmoud Al-Tarirah (-58kg), Zaid Al-Halawani (-63kg), Zaid Mustafa (-68kg), and Fahd Al-Subaihi (- 87kg) in the men’s while Yara Yassin (-57kg), Natalie Al-Hamidi (-62kg), Juliana Al-Sadiq (-67 kg) and Rama Abu Al-Rub (73kg) fight in the women’s event.
Al-Tarirah will meet Macedonian Avramovsky Marko in the round of 16 first, while Al-Halawani will meet the winner of Slovenia’s Zubancic Zane and Faro Island’s Hujni Davason.
Meanwhile, Mustafa will meet Bosnia’s Sadmir, while the Al-Sharbati will fight the winner of Bosnia’s Subasik Timur and Macedonia’s Filip Staminov in the quarter-finals.
Al-Subaihi will meet Daniel Gomez from Spain, and Yassin will meet Serbia’s Milica Polat in the round of 32. Al-Hamidi will meet with Hungarian Joali in the round of 16.
Olympic Al-Sadiq will launch her campaign against the winner of the match between the Czech Republic’s Evita Gerankova and Croatia’s Kristina Serena in the quarter-finals, while Abu Al-Rub will meet Croatia’s Laura Glasnovic in the round of 16.
