JORDAN’S WORLD CHAMPION!
Nov 26, 2015
In what is turning out to be a glorious month of sport for Jordan, Lama Qubbaj has topped the lot by winning gold at the 2015 World Jiu Jitsu Championships held in Bangkok.
Jordan has already secured bronze medals at the World Karate and World Wushu championships this month, but Lama showed she is the best in the world by remaining unbeaten in Thailand to take gold in her sport.
Even more remarkable is that the success came in the mixed belts category, and she was part of the first ever Jordanian Jiu Jitsu National Team.
It is the third title at world level for Lama who is the sister of Rana Qubbaj who herself has achieved global recognition in the sport.
“It one of the proudest moments of my life,” she said. “I'm blessed to have so many people supporting me and helping me get to where I am today; my amazing parents, family and friends, my coach and mentor Sammy Al Jamal, my sister Rana, who's been with me every step of the way, my team FIT Jiu-Jitsu, my training partners, my fitness coach Mohammed Khair and the Jordan Jiu Jitsu Federation for making this happen.”
