Following a narrow defeat despite their heroic performance against the Dominican Republic in their opening game at the FIBA Basketball World Cup, Jordan’s attention turns to France on Tuesday for their second Group G match.
The game gets underway in China at 3.30pm our time with Jordan keen to build on their strong second half showing against the Dominican Republic, when they eventually lost 80-76.
The French, who finished third two years ago, are in form, beating Germany 78-74 in their opener, and include in their ranks the likes of NBA stars Ivan Fournier (Orlando Magic), Frank Ntilikina (New York Knicks), Nicolas Batum (Charlotte Hornets) and Rudy Gbert of Utah Jazz. History of the French national team This is the eighth appearance for the French at the World Cup and the fourth in a row.
Last time out was their best performance, finishing third in Spain. Prior to 2019’s finals, they have played 55 matches, winning 28. France qualified for China after winning their European group with 10 wins and two defeats. They have also won two silver medals at the Olympics in 1948 and 2000.
France were European Champions in 2013 and have also finished runners-up twice and third on six previous occasions.
