AL-DWAIRI TOPS WORLD CUP SCORING CHART
Sep 02, 2019
Jordan may have narrowly lost their opening round at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, but Ahmed Al-Dwairi grabbed the attention with a heroic display.
The star of Turkey’s Fenerbahçe club side netted an impressive 34 points, and has emerged as the top scorer from the first round of matches played in China.
Jordan performed well on Sunday in the 80-76 defeat to the Dominican Republic in Shenzhen, and have two tough Group G games ahead against France and Germany, but they will be in a positive mood going into the next match on Tuesday.
And the 26-year-old centre’s haul shows that Jordan certainly have the talent to cause a surprise. Al-Dwairi is the tournament top scorer, ahead of Puerto Rico’s David Huertas, who scored 32 points, and South Korea's Ricardo Ratlev, who scored 31 points.
