Sep 01, 2019
Jordan have lost their opening match at the FIBA World Basketball Cup, but performed superbly well in their 80-76 defeat to the Dominican Republic in Shenzhen, China.
Nerves got the better of Jordan in the opening two quarters of their Group G encounter, but they fought back well and could have pinched a victory in the end.
Jordan trailed 22-17 after the first quarter, and were 11 points down by half time, but they turned things around in the third quarter by narrowing the deficit to eight points.
They continued to dominate in the final quarter, but couldn’t quite catch their opponents.
Ahmed Al-Dwairi led the way with an incredible 34 points with playmaker Dar Tucker (24), Mahmoud Abdeen (8), Ahmed Al Hamarsheh (8), Mahmoud Abdeen (6) and Fadi Ibrahim (4) all playing their parts.
Next up is France at 3:30pm on Tuesday.
