WOMEN READY FOR WEST ASIAN BASKETBALL CHAMPS

Jordan have assembled a strong side and hope that home advantage will pay off for the West Asian Women’s Basketball Championship, which starts in Amman on Thursday.
Iran, Lebanon and Syria will battle it out with the hosts who have prepared with a training camp in Turkey and a number of friendly matches.
The tournament marks a return to the international scene for Jordan with assistant coach, Saif Al-Bitar, hoping it will inspire more female participation in the sport.
“The preparations have been very good considering our participation comes after many years of absence,” he said.
