As part of its world tour to promote the upcoming FIBA World Cup, the actual trophy has arrived in Amman ahead of the opening ceremony in China on August 31.

The Secretary General of the Basketball Federation, Nabil Abu Atta, said the visit of the World Cup to Amman will build the hype as Jordan prepares to unite behind its heroes.
“We are delighted that Jordanian basketball fans will have the opportunity to join us and have their picture taken with the World Cup,” he said. “It promises to be a great night for us all and it will build the excitement even further ahead of our participation in China.”
The World Cup tour kicked off on May 23 in Beijing and visits 23 countries, including two Arab states, Jordan and Tunisia.
Jordan have qualified for the World Cup for the second time, following 2010 in Turkey. The draw placed the national team in Group G along with The Dominican Republic, France and Germany.
