HRH PRINCE HASSAN BIN TALAL OPENS WTA CADET & JUNIOR ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

HRH Prince Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Self-Defence Sports, was joined by HRH Prince Rashid Bin Al Hassan, President of the Jordan Taekwondo Federation, HRH Princess Zeina Rashed, President of the Olympic Preparation Programme and Kyo Lee, President of the Asian Taekwondo, at the opening of the 10th WTA & Cadet Asian Championship on Sunday evening.
Hosted in Amman at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, the Championships have attracted nearly 400 fighters from 30 countries. And on the opening day, the host nation won an impressive six medals, including one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Fahed Ammar clinched gold in the -78kg weight, while Ahmad Al Tamimi (-51kg), and Hala Malakawi (-52 kg), and Roaa Ismail (-68kg) took the silver medals.
Mohammed Al-Taraireh (-45kg) and Raseel al-Shukairat (-46kg) won Jordan’s bronze medals on Sunday. Head coach Fares Al Assaf said it was the perfect start for Jordan with six of the 10 local participants registering success on the opening day.
The tournament will continue with Ruaa Al-Husami (-44kg), Besan Abed Rabbo (-49kg), Leen Rawashdeh (-55kg), Yara Yassin (-55 kg), Abdullah Ayyad (-63 kg), Abdulhadi Al Shawali (-73 kg), Khaled Qeshta (+78 kg) all in action.
