SILVER, BRONZE FOR JORDAN AT ASIAN KARATE

What a start for Jordan at the 16th Asian Karate Championships in Uzbekistan where the national team secured an impressive three medals on Day One.
Mahmoud Al-Sajan clinched silver in the -84kg competition, while there were bronze medals for Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa (-67kg) and Mohammed Fahd (-60 kg). Al-Sajan reached the final after four brilliant wins before he fell to Iran’s Borashab in the final, settling for his second successive Asian silver.
Al-Masatfa dropped into the bronze competition where he eventually beat Saudi Arabia’s Fahd Al-Khathami in the bronze medal match.
Fahd also dropped into the bronze play-off where he beat Nepal’s Budasini Rajiv and then his opponent in the bronze medal match, China’s Box Yan, was unable to fight due to injury.
The national team continues its participation in the teams’ event on Sunday when the men face either Saudi Arabia or Hong Kong, and the women will take on The Philippines.
